“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”
— Pema Chödrön
We’re in this together y’all. Some see it, some don’t. I do believe that’s something that has to be accepted. I don’t know why innocent lives are being taken or why hate lingers in books of religion or interpretation. I don’t know why anyone from one race would think they are better than someone from another. We’re all made up of the same stuff. No matter what happens, I keep my heart in tact by keeping an open mind. And while keeping that mind open, trying not to classify people, revisiting my own darkness–to be present in the darkness of others.
